Two Detentions in the Aftermath of Heathrow Irritant Spray Attack

Placeholder Heathrow Airport scene
This incident caused the partial closure of the CTA tunnel and the T3 car park.

An additional two individuals have been arrested in connection with a robbery at Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by what is thought to be pepper spray, according to police.

A man, 24, was arrested in Lambeth on suspicion of theft and assault and a 23-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. They both remain in custody, the force said.

These detentions come after an investigation into an assault at the multi-storey car park at Terminal 3 this past Sunday. Prior to the incident, two women were robbed of their luggage upon exiting a parking garage elevator.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured in the event. A total of five individuals were taken to the hospital for treatment and have since been released.

Officers arrested a 31-year-old man for suspected robbery and assault close to the scene. He has since been released pending further inquiries while inquiries continue.

Authorities were called at about 8:10 in the morning GMT following reports of a number of individuals injured by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - resulted in delays to rail services and the temporary shutdown of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park for a short time.
