'People are fearful' - the reasons 'powerhouse' Arsenal are the side to defeat.

It's obvious why Arsenal are now countless pundits' preferred choice to secure the Premier League this season.

Examine their results against Newcastle and Crystal Palace compared to those same matches in the previous campaign.

The Gunners have overcome all of them this time around, but surrendered 10 points across those games as they dropped off in the title race last season.

Impenetrable Backline

Arsenal's defensive strength is a primary factor why they are looking well positioned to finally fulfil their title ambition.

They lead the league for shutouts (6), goals allowed (3), opposition efforts (72), shots on target faced (19) and anticipated concessions (5.3).

The center-back duo of Gabriel and William Saliba is potentially the finest in the league, with Arsenal recording a clean sheet in six of their first nine games.

Set-Piece Proficiency

Their danger from dead balls is highly documented, but opposition teams still struggle to stop the Gunners from these opportunities.

They have scored 11 times from set-pieces in the league, two more than any other side, with 69% of their goals originating from these situations.

"Arsenal can excel in various aspects now. The whole team has a intimidation presence. People are just fearful of them and it is wonderful to see."

Championship Credentials

What is especially impressive about Arsenal's beginning to the campaign is they have also encountered Manchester United, Liverpool and Newcastle United away from home and Manchester City on home turf - and are still four points clear at the top.

While they continue triumphing, their traditional rivals face difficulties. This marks the initial occasion at this juncture of the season since 1992 that none of Manchester City and United, Liverpool or Chelsea are in the Premier League top four.

The scrutiny was on boss Mikel Arteta at the outset, having allocated around £250m on eight summer signings in pursuit of that elusive first title since 2004.

But the investment has so far yielded results in remarkable manner, with his side second top scorers in the league and possessing the strongest defense, despite several injuries.

  • Unbreached games in three consecutive Premier League games
  • Over six hours without conceding a goal
  • Only a trio of goals in 12 games across every tournament

Former players and experts have described Arteta's men as a "powerhouse, looking hard to stop" with the whole club now operating with belief and resolve.
