Buffalo's Disappointing Performance Gives New England Route to Top Spot - Highlights of NFL Week 10

The tenth week again delivered, with a huge upset for the Buffalo Bills proving the 'any given Sunday' saying that attracts so many people into the NFL
This outcome could have created things up for the New England Patriots to creep back into a top spot they formerly held, with a schedule that gives them an edge over their eight and two rivals
Meanwhile in the National Football Conference the Seattle Seahawks and Los Angeles Rams had perfect results to set up a major confrontation next week, while our player of the week is chasing records as well as the Most Valuable Player award
Analysis - Just a Bad Day for the Bills?
Was it just an emotional comedown from beating the Chiefs the previous week or a deeper issue? This remains the question for the Bills to answer
The Buffalo squad had won seven in a consecutive games against the Dolphins but were second best from the beginning as the Miami team ran out 30-13 victors in an eye-opening result - and display
MVP quarterback Josh Allen only got the team's initial first down in the third quarter and initial scoring in the fourth - admittedly the Dolphins had ten days to prepare but it was nonetheless a significant failure produced by one of the league's best offenses
Dolphins quarterback Tua passed for two touchdowns but running back Achane was the devastating difference, with 225 total yards and two scores
Containing the NFL's top running game was also key, with Cook and company recording just eighty-six yards, their fewest of the season and slightly more than fifty percent their 161.5 yard average
Additionally there were the three critical turnovers, and the pair from Allen in particular. An pass caught by defense in the end zone resulting in a nine minute drive produced nothing, and his final quarter dropped ball that the Dolphins turned into seven points just later
It was classic 'previous Bills teams' as they hurt themselves in the foot, getting into a deficit on defensive side and Allen trying to do too much to dig his team from the situation - not the calm, disciplined, balanced Buffalo team we've seen this season
The Dolphins have served up a bit of everything this season so the verdict is uncertain on if this is the start of something, but for the Bills they'll require an immediate bounce-back in a difficult matchup against Tampa Bay next week as the Patriots are sneaking into a comfortable advantage at the top of the American Football Conference East
In Focus - New England Identify Route to Unexpected First Place
Regarding the New England, they're among three eight and two squads in the NFL, all American Football Conference teams, but are they the best?
One could find flaws in New England, the Broncos and Indianapolis actually for feasting on the lesser sides, with only five of their total 24 wins coming against opponents with a winning record - and one of those was the Indianapolis defeating the Denver
The Broncos beat the champion Eagles in Philadelphia and are masters of the final quarter while Indy can ride Taylor, but the Patriots including Sunday's victory in Tampa to their prime time win in Orchard Park seems like a declaration
Their pair of losses occurred in new head coach Mike Vrabel's initial three contests, with seven straight wins, similar to the Broncos, from that point - but defeating Mayfield after the Bucs had a week off to prepare was significant
Maye's MVP claims won't go away, and he certainly earns point for bravery after taking some hard tackles in Tampa but hanging in there to guide his side to victory
The defense is reliable and first-year running back TreVeyon Henderson burst onto the scene on game day with 147 rushing yards and two exciting scores of 55 and 69 yards - establishing himself as just the fifth ball carrier to exceed 22 miles per hour this year on his first score
While you can argue who 'the top team' is statistically, the Pats should be favourites to end with the best record thanks to their schedule - which includes just a single matchup against a successful opponent, although a huge one against the Bills
Visiting Baltimore is challenging too, but Denver have it even tougher in the AFC West with the Kansas City to play twice, the Chargers (who could also compete for first place but encounter the identical challenge) and also the Green Bay on the schedule
The Colts also face the Kansas City, and have the Seattle, San Francisco and two games with the 5-4 Jaguars to contend with. There's a considerable distance to go but the opportunity is available for a shock top seed in the American Football Conference
Coming Up - Los Angeles and Seattle Set for Next Week Showdown
Two teams with strong arguments to be better than all of the three different eight and two sides are National Football Conference West rivals the Seattle and Rams, who both put up forty points to reach 7-2 before the upcoming Hollywood blockbuster meeting between the two in Los Angeles
Both have secured four victories in a consecutive games, have signal callers in Stafford and Sam Darnold playing at an elite level (although Sam Darnold had ball security problems on game day) with excellent pass catchers, and defensive units giving up under 20 points a game
Both could realistically be without a loss as too - particularly the Los Angeles as their pair of losses came in overtime against the San Francisco and then that painful defeat in Philadelphia when they had a potentially winning kick with the last kick deflected and run back by the Eagles for a touchdown
Seattle also lost to San Francisco, with a late touchdown in week one, before falling to the final play of the contest against the Buccaneers - so they are genuinely among the best sides in the league
The upcoming game on Sunday could be the most exciting of the season to date
Player of the Week - Jonathan Taylor
Jonathan Taylor might be on for a record season after his remarkable performance in Berlin - running for 244 yards, registering three touchdowns and contributing another 42 {receiving yards
